Hello beautiful people! Fall is upon us and I couldn’t be happier! I love this time of year so so much. I love the fall colors and the fall fashion – boots, cozy sweaters. I love the trees and seeing all the pumpkin/apple picking photos on social media. I just love a change in season in general. Its a fresh start and a new beginning. I am so happy I live in a state that has four seasons, how boring would it be if it was always summer!?
We got back from vacation on the 22nd and that first weekend it was all about cleaning and putting things away. But the following weekend was Fall Take over day or as my good friends Chip and Joanna would say “DEMO DAY!” … I wish we were actual good friends, I think we’d have a blast together. Anyway, I went to the garage got out my big box of fall decor and got to it! opening the box and seeing all the reds and oranges and smelling the spices from a tea I placed inside there was EVERYTHING. My husband went outside because he didn’t want to deal with the madness, haha.
I wanted to do something different with my centerpiece this year but I didn’t want to go out and spend on it, so I grabbed what I already had and stared at it for like 5 minutes. Then I remembered that I had these window panes that, believe it or not, I picked up from a neighbors garbage a few months ago! “One mans garbage is another mans treasure” is a real thing. When I saw these windows on the sidewalk for a garbage pickup my heart sank. These things would cost so much if I went to a store to buy them and they’ve got an authentic worn out look to them already. I picked up my dog took her for a walk and on our way back I lugged these bad boys back home with me. I wonder if my neighbors saw … oh well.
Anyway, wow I am all over the place today… I cleaned it down with a towel and some wood oil and put it on top of my table and grabbed these pumpkins I bought last year from HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby. All the foliage is from Hobby Lobby as well. The crochet cloth is actually very special because it was made by either my mom or my grandma. I have so many of these crochet clothes because my mom saved them for me through out the years. Whenever she or my grandma would make one she would place them in this gigantic treasure box looking thing. I even have bed comforters that are completely crochet. They’re beautiful and worth so much more because of the hands that made them. I knew that this centerpiece needed a sweet touch to it so I went through my collection and found this one.
I love the way this centerpiece came out. Its so cozy to me. It goes to show that sometimes you can just use things you already have and recreate something even prettier. It doesn’t need to be the most expensive centerpiece to look expensive.
Would love too see what you’ve created!
Thanks for stopping by!
