Hi friends! I hope you had a beautiful Easter. Easter is such a special holiday for me because what it stands for- the resurrection of Christ!
For the first time this year we hosted Easter at our house. This is also the first major event I host at home for our families. Needless to say I was a bit nervous! Thankfully our family is willing to help and they each brought something yummy to contribute to the feast like: deviled eggs, a traditional Portuguese cake call Pão do Ló, chocolate mousse, a traditional Spanish appetizer with scallops which you eat from a beautiful seashell and my dad even made the lamb! I bet you’re wondering what I contributed, haha. Well I made the roasted chicken and the sides, rice, potatoes and French fries for the kids (that means me too).
Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of the actual meal but I do have pictures of the deserts and lets be honest, that’s the part that matters anyway.
My favorite part is the table setting. I love making it look pretty. It’s something I always saw my mom do. Every party she hosted always was done with lots of love and attention to detail. My sister and I have continued on with that.
I wanted to use spring colors so I chose a light blue and a bright green as my color scheme. I purchased my place mats at HomeGoods along with the white table clothes. I love the clean look of the white table clothes. They’re the perfect back drop for any color scheme.
I found my napkins at The Christmas Tree store. I was so happy when I came across them because they had the blue and green on them and brought everything together. Now the center piece, I wanted something bright and totally Springy. I found the green watering can at Target and new I wanted to put flower in it. The wood slice was actually from my wedding, I have so many of those just laying around my house.
I purchased the flowers from Trader Joe’s and Stop and Shop. My favorite were the bright orange peonies. I was going for a “I just picked this from my garden look” …. Ahh… I love flowers.
The last little detail on my table setting was the little birds nests I made from Rice Krispie treats. I added in some candy eggs and placed them on each guests plate. I thought it would be a cute little touch to an Easter table setting and it also was a little desert everyone could enjoy.
It was a great time spent with family. We hid eggs around the house and in the yard for the little ones to do their egg hunt. By the end of the day I was exhausted but my heart was full.
My husband and I did our best to keep Christ in Easter because at the end of it all it’s about what He did for us. I will never take that for granted. This song was on constant replay in our home as we set up and I took my praise breaks: Mighty Cross – Elevation Church.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!
& God Bless you ♥
