Spring Cleaning

Hey friends! Its the first weekend of Spring and I know the weather still hasn’t proved to us it’s willing to change. That doesn’t mean we need to sit back and not do our part though and embrace SPRING #lifelessonswithSara 😉 I wanted to continue with the Spring theme and give you some Spring cleaning ideas/checklist.

cleaning

My two favorite seasons are Spring and Fall, I love the way nature looks in both seasons. In Spring the flowers bloom and everything smells pretty.  To me, Spring is a rebirth of everything that makes us smile. The animals come out to play, the trees gain their leaves back, flowers start to peak out of the ground, the air seems to change with all the bright colors and everyone seems to smile more. But I think most of all I love the fashion! (All my fashionistas said – AMEN).

About six months ago I became a wife and with that I also became a homeowner. Yes, two major life events! It’s been the best 6 months of my life to say the least. So with this new home this whole idea of spring cleaning has become very real to me. Now I know in the last six months we haven’t really accumulated a lot of stuff and the house is still in great shape but there’s still some things I want to do to get it back to brand spankin’ new and ready for this new season. A spring cleaning is basically a thorough cleaning of your home, office, car or any area you think needs some refreshing.

So before you even get started on your Spring cleaning turn on some music, do a little dance (that’s my favorite part), breathe and get to work ladies!!

Here is a checklist I have come with of some things you can do to get your home ready for this brand new season:

Kitchen/Eating Area

  • Scrub those counter tops and all the appliances you have on display.
  • Wash the cabinet Exteriors and Interiors
  • Dust the light fixtures
  • Wash the windows – you want to be able to see all those pretty flowers outside!
  • Remove all the curtains and wash them (This would be a general need to just remove all the curtains in the house)
  • Run the dishwasher empty
  • Remove everything from the fridge and wash the interior
  • Dust any molding you have along the floors and around the windows
  • Scrub those floors

Living Room

  • Vacuum between the couch … oh the treasures you’ll find
  • Remove those cobwebs … or make your husband do this part
  • Dust the light fixtures
  • Wash the windows
  • Remove all the curtains and wash them
  • Spot clean any rugs you have in that area
  • Clean all the surfaces and interiors of any coffee and side tables and tv consoles
  • Clean any decor you have on top of surfaces or hanging on the walls
  • Dust any molding you have along the floors and around the windows
  • Thoroughly clean the floors

OK, you’ve got 2-3 rooms down. Take a break. Drink some coffee rest on that comfy couch you just made brand new and breathe… you good? Alright break times over, you got this girl!

Bedrooms

  • Dust the light fixtures
  • Remove and wash the bedding and maybe replace it with something more appropriate for the season
  • Flip the mattress
  • Wash the windows
  • Remove all the curtains and wash them
  • Remove those cobwebs
  • Clean any decor you have on top of surfaces or hanging on the walls
  • Spot clean any rugs you have in that area
  • Dust any molding you have along the floors and around the windows
  • Thoroughly clean the floors

Bathrooms

  • Bring out the bleach!
  • Scrub the shower , toilet and sink
  • Wash the windows
  • Remove all the curtains and wash them
  • Replace the shower lining and wash the shower curtain
  • Dust any molding you have along the floors and around the windows
  • Clean any decor you have on top of surfaces or hanging on the walls
  • Scrub those floors

Closets

  • If you don’t have room for all your seasonal clothing in one closet its time to bring out all the cute spring dresses and pretty colors.
  • Clean out your closet by removing any winter clothing you didn’t wear all winter and donate it to a shelter or sell them online. I usually like to put everything I didn’t wear in one pile and then go through that at the end and pick out the pieces I am sure I won’t need. I know it’s a hard thing to do but you’ll feel so much better in the end when you see your closet less cluttered.

This is the part where you lay on your sparkling clean living room floors and take in all the pretty smells in your home and RELAX. You deserve it! Happy Spring!

Thank you for being here and being a part of this journey!

& God Bless You ♥
